Frequently asked questions about Income tax calculator

How accurate is the income tax figure? Which year standards does it use?
It follows the 2026 rules: the seven-bracket progressive rate table for comprehensive income (3%–45%), a ¥5000 monthly basic deduction, the three-level withholding rates for service income (20%–40%), author remuneration counted at 70% of income, and special additional deductions per Guofa [2023] No. 13 (children education ¥2000 per month per child, ¥3000 per month for an only child supporting parents, and so on), with separate taxation of annual bonuses extended to 31 December 2027. The rate table, the quick deduction figures and every deduction standard are printed on the page so you can check them one by one.
Why is more tax withheld in later months on the same monthly salary?
Because salary uses cumulative withholding: each month the income and deductions from January to that month are added up to compute the tax due, then what was already withheld is subtracted. Once cumulative income crosses a bracket such as 36000 or 144000 the rate rises and that month withholding jumps. The annual total matches the tax payable figure, so the annual settlement neither owes nor refunds anything; this is not a calculation error. The 12-month table on the page lists each month withholding, take-home pay and cumulative amount.
Should the annual bonus be "taxed separately" or "combined with comprehensive income"?
The page computes both and points out which costs less. The general rule: with a high regular salary and special additional deductions already used up, separate taxation costs less; with a lower salary and deductions not yet used, combining the bonus into comprehensive income so it spreads over the remaining deductions works out better. Watch out for the "earning more pays less" blind spot too: under separate taxation the bonus ÷ 12 sets the rate, so a bonus only slightly above thresholds such as 36000, 144000 and 300000 jumps to a higher tier and the take-home amount shrinks; the page flags the affected ranges.
Is what I enter uploaded to a server?
No. The whole calculation runs in the browser, the page makes no network requests and writes nothing to local storage, so reloading or closing the page releases everything; it works offline too.
The result does not match the tax app. Where is the difference?
Three usual reasons: this page assumes the same monthly income across all 12 months, so joining mid-year, a 13th salary or monthly bonuses change the real figures; service income, author remuneration and royalties are estimated here with a single annual withholding, whereas in practice each payment is withheld separately; and this page does not include tax relief, charitable donation deductions or foreign tax credits. For fully accurate figures, go by the annual settlement result in the official tax app or by your employer’s withholding filings.
Do I need to register or pay to use Income tax calculator?
Almost every tool is free, needs no registration or sign-in and has no usage limit; the few pay-per-use features (such as AI watermark removal, AI image generation, AI upscaling, AI annotation, and AI flowchart, mind-map and Mermaid generation) state their prices on the page.
Is the data I process with Income tax calculator uploaded to a server?
No. Calculation and rendering run locally in the browser and your input is never sent to a server; only the IP address page asks our backend for your outbound address when it opens, and that request carries none of your input. Features that need the backend (such as AI watermark removal, AI image generation, AI upscaling, AI annotation, AI flowchart and mind-map generation and "Financial statements – Small Business Accounting Standards") state their upload scope on their own pages.

About Local Toolbox

Local Toolbox gathers the small tools you reach for every day into one place: formatters, encoding converters, date maths, ID card and address parsing, image and QR code handling, password and amount conversion. Open a page and start working — no sign-up, and almost every tool has no usage limit.

Most features compute inside your browser, so your input never leaves your device; the pages are plain static assets, load fast and keep working offline. The IP page asks our backend for your outbound address when it opens and sends none of your input. AI watermark removal, AI background removal, AI image generation and AI upscaling send content to our backend for inference (watermark removal is ¥1 per run; background removal is ¥1 per run; image generation and upscaling are priced by resolution — 2K ¥2, 4K ¥3); AI annotation sends images to a large model that locates the target and returns coordinates (¥0.5 per image, refunded only when every image in the batch fails); AI flowchart, AI mind-map and AI Mermaid chart generation send your text description to a model that builds the diagram (three separate products, charged ¥0.5, ¥0.5 and ¥0.5 per run respectively); and the accounting helper sends the income, expense, social-insurance and balance figures you fill in to generate a report (¥0.5 for the spoken analysis, ¥1 for the report). These features accept Alipay only, upload nothing before payment succeeds, and refund automatically if processing fails.
